Mark Alsterlind's paintings evoke an intense, primal world that runs on inexplicable energies. Although the compositions are resolutely abstract, they semm nature-based, alluding to the dynamism of natural phenomena...
He often elaborates his compositions of a lengthy period of time, generally between one and one and a half years. The canvases in procees are sometimes left outside the studio, which permits certain natural elements - pine needles, leafs and other bits of vegetation - to impose themselves on the paintings.
